woahhhh portis and jacobs ahead of Alexander?? Jacobs will not be a top6 rb... And Norwood is the better rb option between him and Dunn imo

I agree on Norwood and Dunn and will swap them around when I get the final list ready. I messed up inputting the stats. Jacobs is going to get a ton of carries behind one of the best run-blocking lines in football. He's a huge dude that is running mid 4.4 40s right now and he'll get the goalline carries. I think he is going to be a monster fantasy player with yards and TDs.

Alexander has me questioning him a little bit. He was dinged up last year but the loss of Steve Hutchinson really showed and the holes just weren't there as often as they used to be. Seattle's O-Line is getting older and older and I'm not sure he's going to be able to do what he used to do.

I think Taylor will become more of a third down back as the season progresses. Peterson was awfully impressive last night, him running behind Hutchinson could be something special. Of course I'm a huge AD homer but the kid really is amazing.

Also, I really think James's best days are way behind him. I expect better numbers than last year (not saying much) but not a top rb imo.

Love the Jacobs kid also Jake, if he can hold onto the ball and stay injury free, I think he could put up some huge numbers. Good luck boys

I wouldn't say he's done. (He hasn't even hit 30 yet.) I'm big on the Cards offense this year because of the new system, so I think he puts up numbers closer to the old James.

Peterson will be a star back eventually, but until then....

One List I Found

1. Ladainian Tomlinson. While we know that he won’t repeat last year’s numbers, he will still be productive for at least 2 more years. New head coach Norv Turner will use him heavily next season especially in the pass-catching department. I have a funny feeling about L.T. going “Playstation” again on most teams in 2007.
2. Steven Jackson. He could actually out produce L.T. in 2007 and it’s scary to think that he is only 24 years young. A great keeper or dynasty league #1 overall pick. He has no imminent threat to take carries away from him.
3. Frank Gore. Norv Turner is gone, granted, but they have virtually no passing game (except for D-JAX) and no good back up for Gore. I just hope that he won’t go “Washington” now that he has signed a huge contract extension.
4. Larry Johnson. His coach indicated that wants to lessen his workload this year…But let’s be honest, they have nobody else of relevance to spell him with. Their passing game can be better than last year, but Larry Johnson is “IT” in Kansas City. Don’t worry about his possible holdout. It’s not in his best intere$t.
5. Brian Westbrook. Relatively young back with extremely good pass catching abilities. He is listed as probable every week, but keeps playing and producing, regardless. He’s oftentimes required to carry the Eagles on his back after the annual McNabb injury occurs.
6. Willie Parker. The Steelers are notorious for running the ball in spite of who is coaching them. He has no dangerous threat to steal carries from him this year and that makes him furthermore valuable. The only worry here is that Kevan Barlow might pilfer a few goal line TD’s as he did with the Jets last season. The majority of yards and TD’s will be his, tough.
7. Joseph Addai. I might have ranked him a little higher than most, but with the starting job as the sole carrier for the Colts his; I’d take my chances with him. He will chunk numerous “Garbage” yards that will translate in FPTS at the end of games after Manning & CO. clock out for the day.
8. Reggie Bush. He gets to take advantage of a great passing game, on which he plays a huge part in, which will keep defenses honest. His ranking for keeper leagues will be even higher.
9. Laurence Maroney. A full-time starter now, Maroney will reap the benefits of a revamped passing game in New England, thanks to the acquisitions of Donte Stallworth and Randy Moss. He is in the same situation as Addai’s.
10. Willis McGahee. He has finally found a great team to run for. The ravens have some balance on the passing side of the ball and let’s not forget that their defensive unit will give McGahee great field position. With a very short field to work with you just cannot discount McGahee to have a productive year.
11. Travis Henry. There is always that outside chance for him to split with Mike Bell, knowing Shanahan, but I believe he’ll prove that he can handle the load it by himself behind a great OL.
12. Maurice Jones-Drew. Based on the results from last year, even if he splits the ball again, he’ll make good of every time he touches it, and that is all we need to know. Forget about the three-headed monster along with F.Taylor and G. Jones.
13. Rudi Johnson. A consistent back thru his entire career. He’s constantly producing like a middle of the pack player every year, so he should be drafted accordingly. He has Kenny Irons breathing on his neck this year. Just ranked ahead of T. Jones because he’s the younger one out of the two.
14. Thomas Jones. He landed on a great situation this year with a team that has a good passing game that will open up his running lanes. The presence of Leon Washington and Cedric Houston (both capable reserves) on the same team prevented me from ranking him higher.
15. Marshawn Lynch. He is a better overall runner than McGahee ever was with his quick step that allows him to change directions on the fly. Just witness this if you don’t believe us! His great pass catching skills will be needed by the Bills.
16. Adrian Peterson. Daring and risky are the only two words that perfectly describe Adrian’s high ranking. Everyone always has a sleeper in their rankings and with Peterson we’ll look for instant gratification if given the chance to draft him in our leagues. The rookie will play the majority of downs in the Vikings’ great running system thanks to the non-existent passing game. With the kind of money that he will be getting, starting is almost a certainty; add Chester Taylor’s beat up body and you’ll have a “New kid in town” that will not disappoint.
17. Ronnie Brown. Most experts rank him in the top 10, but his inability to break the 1,000 yard-mark and score double digits TD’s consistently, leads me to rank him this low. Since nobody has ever glorified me as an expert, I took the liberty to rank him 17th. Playing for a team in disarray doesn’t help his cause either. Besides, Lorenzo Booker looks mighty good to replace him by mid-season.
18. Shaun Alexander. He is the still the centerpiece of a good offense and if healthy this season, he could put up decent numbers. The main reason he’s at #18 is his age. (30). Expect bust year part ll.
19. Cedric Benson. He finally showed why the Bears drafted him 3 years ago and with Jones gone, he’s “DA MAN” in Chicago now. His OL should pave the way for him to succeed. The only concern that made him slip so far is that he’s for one untested and secondly, team sources have indicated that Garrett Wolfe might have a good chance to contribute this year, cutting into Benson’s touches.
20. Edgerrin James. Another league-wide workload reduction’s type of situation is forecasted in Arizona. Marcell Shipp, whom I loved for to be the starter five years ago, is his main competition. I will take James’ declining skills along with his pass catching stats over Shipp’s goal-line touches opportunities any day. I like the freshly installed run-first mentality of the new coaching regime in Arizona. Yes, they are working on building an actual NFL OL this year.
21. Clinton Portis. The fact that he’s injury prone, as his never-ending dose of injury news that surrounds him suggests, and the emergence of Ladell Betts make him fall this low in my rankings. Handcuff him with Betts if decide to take a gamble on him.
22. Brandon Jacobs. Even with the acquisition of Reuben Droughns, the Giants have insisted that Jacobs will be the featured back in the “Big Apple” in 2007. I question his durability, however, and think that a RBBC is in order in New York. Until further notice, however, I’ll pencil him in as the Giants’ starter.
23. Julius Jones. The new coaches in Dallas like him. Unfortunately, I don’t think that alone is enough for them to part with the RBBC established by the “Tuna” last year. It worked, so why mess with it? Again, he stays here until further notice.
24. Jamal Lewis. While he offered bad, but steady production last year, he’s not the same player he used to be. Going to a team with a weaker OL will mean trouble for Lewis this year, even with OT Joe Thomas in the mix.
25. Ahman Green. I am sure many people will rank him higher than me but, thanks to the weak Texans defense, his team will have to stage their usual 4th quarter comebacks via the passing game. Ouch.
26. Carnell Williams. His starter status and no decent back up let me rank him this high. Yes, 26th is high for him. Sorry but I have a hard time forgiving previous year’s BUSTS.
27. Jerious Norwood. He will be the featured back in Atlanta by mid-season at worst, in 2007. He possesses an explosive quickness like Steven Jackson, which will make him a good back to have on your team for a long time. The fact that he will lose valuable starting time out of the gate justifies the #27 position among his peers. He will be the most added player from the waiver wire next year. He’s a top-10 pick for dynasty leagues, however.
28. Tatum Bell. With otherwise starter Kevin Jones possibly starting the season on the PUP list, Tatum will be the Lions’ main ball carrier for the first portion of the season. The fact that the Lions will use every opportunity to feed the ball to their new offensive “Toy” WR Calvin Johnson, doesn’t let me rank him higher than 28.
29. Deangelo Williams. I like what I saw from him last year. I didn’t like what I saw from his coach, tough. If given the chance to start every Sunday, he could be a good sleeper next season. Let’s keep an eye on how this situation develops in Carolina this next pre-season.
30. Brandon Jackson. He figures to be named the starter for the Packers, but having Morency as his competition will make it harder for me to rank him higher for now. Morency has had a head start over him during OTAs, but in the end, I like the rookie to be the #1 Packers’ runner.
31. Lamont Jordan. The new OL system in Raiders-land should help him bounce back a bit from a “Bust” season. Not much, in my opinion. Even with Rhodes suspended for the first four games of the 2007 season.
32. Chris Henry. I believe he is the uncontested starter for the Titans, and as such, he should perform well. That is because the Titans do not have a passing game worthy of consideration, therefore relying on Henry and Young to do most of the damage. Young and another “Henry” did it last year. Chris Brown’s re-signing raises a little red flag. If you smell a RBBC in Tennessee this year, stay away from any of their RBs. In essence, who ever wins the starting gig for the Titans should get the last of the starters’ rank.
33. Deuce McAllister. The reason that he plays a different role than Bush, adds value to his stock. By the same token, the pure presence of Bush diminishes it. Deuce is the best in this sections of notable back ups and RBBC’s second options.
34. Marion Barber. An explosive runner, that might get to show his skills every down next year. It makes sense to think that if he posted great numbers on a limited basis, the sky is the limit with a full time job. Even if Julius starts, I’d still take his ‘Limited” numbers as my 3rd RB on my team. He swaps places with Ju-Jo if he wins the starting spot in Dallas.
35. Chester Taylor. With Adrian Peterson in the picture, his fantasy stock has fallen dramatically. He went from being a top 5-10 pick to being an uncertainty in fantasy play. The mere thought that he can initially still be the main carrier for the Vikings, wins Chester this #35 rank.
36. Michael Turner. Turner figures to be spelling L.T. more often this year, according to some rumors. He should be a must-have for L.T.’s owners anyhow. I can’t rank him higher since his possible increased workload has been only “Lip service” thus far.
37. Ladell Betts. A great handcuff to Clinton Portis that is capable of producing great numbers even in a sharing situation.
38. Mike Bell. I know the Broncos are known to have their RB splitting carries as last year’s merry-go-round could prove, but Travis Henry will get the bulk of the load this year. In 2006, they had no choice but to use a RBBC. Henry wipes that out, making M. Bell nothing more than a handcuff. Then again, just because Shanahan is at the Broncos’ helm, he might get some valuable yards and TDs in ’07.
39. Fred Taylor. Another fine season as MJD’s sidekick will be his final “Hurrah”. Greg Jones might bite into his touches a little, as the Jags should and will try to find a young back up for MJD.
40. Kevin Jones. His unclear short-term future makes him a risky pick for 2007. I would go elsewhere for help. Make him an “Investment” pick that could turn out to be like the best FA mid-season addition for your team. That is without even having to dip into the FA wire.
41. Deshaun Foster. You should handcuff both Carolina’s backs with each other to be safe.
42. Warrick Dunn. He’s getting up in age and can’t get away with his small body to be a top back anymore. Norwood will steal his job soon or split at worst and that drops his value drastically. I am surprised that he has been able to account for decent numbers at the not so tender age of 31. Maybe playing for one of the best ’06 rushing teams helped Dunn achieve that. Don’t you think?
43. Reuben Droughns. He will likely split with Jacobs minus the TD’s. We do know that a TD-less player is not worth much in fantasy football, don’t we?
44. Vernand Morency. He could swap positions with Brandon Jackson at # 26 should he be named the starter in Green Bay.
45. Chris Brown. If he assumes the Titans’ starting role, he qualifies at #32.
46. Anthony Thomas. Once again, he will be denied of being the starter on a team. He will remain a capable reserve should anything happen to Lynch. Thomas, AKA the “A-train”, has embarked his last “Fantasy-Misery” bounded train!
47. Leon Washington. Great back-up material and bye-week plug-in as long as Thomas Jones is the starter with the Jets.
48. Dominic Rhodes. The amount of money he received from the Raiders almost guarantees him some playing time should Jordan falter again. In light of his recent four-game suspension, his potential playing time would have to come starting in week 5. The problem is that I don’t believe he’ll do anything worthy with it, because…
49. ..Michael Bush. Will be the one replacing Jordan if need be with health permitting. Otherwise, please… Someone call the Raiders for a RB tryout! You never know, you might stand a chance. Apparently, they turn their back-ups instant millionaires. Tell me you wouldn’t love that!
50. Lorenzo Booker. As I said before, his future depends on Ronnie Brown’s failures. Until then, # 50 is all he gets from me in seasonal rankings.
51. Kenny Irons. Good handcuff for Rudi Johnson. He relegates Chris Perry to #3 in their depth chart.
52. Cedric Houston. Leon Washington and Thomas Jones could prove to be insurmountable obstacles to his ’07 on-field time.
53. Lendale White. This guy makes it for an interesting “What could have been” story. I think someone named Chris, (Henry or Brown) will be the starter for the Titans in 2007. Dynasty leagues’ managers with an available extra spot may invest in him.

Edge is just as good of a running back as he was in Indy, and is also a perfect example of how much an offensive line influences a RB's stats. Arizona can't run block and there weren't any moves this offseason to make me think that they are finally going to figure it out. Edge can only do so much without holes to run thru...

I agree James is an average back, but he's the main guy there. They paid him a ton, he's going to get the ball.

Peterson, at least early on, will be splitting the work load with Chester Taylor. The guy had 1,200 yards last year. They're not going to just abandon him.
